Błażej Marczak is a Polish born photographer currently based in Ottawa, Canada. Since 2005 until 2016 he was living and working in the United Kingdom, mainly in Scotland where he graduated with BA in Professional Photography from the Stevenson College Edinburgh in conjunction with The University of Abertay Dundee. After his graduation in 2012 Blazej left Edinburgh for Aberdeen where he stayed until late 2016 and during that time created The Grey City series. Blazej participated in various projects and collective exhibitions in the UK and internationally including Origins; PhotoUK- India at the British Council in New Delhi, Documenting Britain at Street Level Photoworks in Glasgow and Celebrating Europe at Kaunas Photography Gallery in Lithuania. Selected images from The Grey City series were published in the form of a photo zine by the renowned publishing house The Velvet Cell. Blazej is curious about history, individual people’s stories, society and manifestations of these aspects in the built environment. In his portraits and landscapes, he adopts a modest visual language to convey his observations and to document his surroundings.
